BLINKFI FOR IPHONE AND IPAD
BlinkFi reads WiFi network names and passwords from printed text (hotel cards, café posters, router stickers, handwritten notes) and connects you with one tap. If something is not working, email support@ddz.dev and we will get back to you, usually within a day. Include your iOS version and the app version from Settings › About.
How to scan
- Open BlinkFi on the Scan tab and point the camera at the card or sticker.
- Line the network name and password up inside the brackets and tap the shutter.
- Check the result on the Review screen. The password is shown large, in a monospaced font, so you can compare it with the card.
- Tap Connect. iOS asks you to confirm the join.
You can also pick an existing photo from your library with the photo button next to the shutter, and BlinkFi reads WiFi QR codes live in the viewfinder.
Tips for a clean read
- Fill the brackets with just the credentials. Extra text (room numbers, serial numbers) can confuse the reader.
- Use good light and hold the phone flat over the card. The torch button helps in dim rooms.
- Small print scans better from close up; BlinkFi switches to the macro camera automatically on supported iPhones.
- If the password came out wrong, tap it on the Review screen to edit it, or use Fix Recognition to point at the right words in the photo.
- Mixed up name and password? Tap the swap button on the Review screen.
Connecting
BlinkFi hands the credentials to iOS, which joins the network and shows its own confirmation. If the join does not go through:
- Check the password for look-alike characters: 0 and O, 1 and l, 5 and S. The Review screen colours digits and letters differently to help.
- Make sure WiFi is on and the network is in range.
- Some networks need a sign-in page after joining (hotels often do). BlinkFi joins the network; the sign-in page is up to the venue.
If connecting is not possible, you can still copy the password or share it as a QR code that any phone's camera can scan.
Free allowance and BlinkFi Pro
Your first three networks are free. A network is counted the first time you actually use it: a confirmed connection, a QR code shared or a password copied. Misreads and failed joins never count, and you get one extra connection on the house after the three are used. Reconnecting to and sharing networks you have already used stays free for as long as you like.
BlinkFi Pro is a one-time purchase of $4.99 (or the equivalent in your local currency) that unlocks unlimited new networks and the full network history. It is shared with your family through Family Sharing.
Restoring a purchase
Bought Pro on another device, or reinstalled the app? Open Settings in BlinkFi and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID that made the purchase (or one in the same Family Sharing group).
Refunds
Apple handles App Store refunds. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find the BlinkFi Pro purchase and request a refund there.
Privacy
Scanning and text recognition happen on your device. Photos, network names, passwords and recognized text never leave it. BlinkFi collects no data: no analytics, no tracking, no account. The details are in the BlinkFi privacy policy.
Delete your data
Swipe a network in History to delete it together with its password. Deleting the app removes its history and preferences.
Contact
Email support@ddz.dev. Bug reports are easiest to act on with a photo of the card that did not scan (cover the password if you prefer) and a screenshot of what BlinkFi read.
